About Ann Stringer

Ann has worked as an Executive Director of HR /OD for the past 16 years at Northumbria Healthcare NHS FT (to March 2022). Having now decided to step down from this role and specialise in specific areas of my expertise, Ann has joined TCM as a Resolution Consultant in 2022. The Trust has been rated twice as outstanding by CQC and has won many awards for staff engagement, board effectiveness and employment standards- including the HSJ Best Place to Work. The Trust is top performing each year in the NHS staff survey and  excels in areas of staff engagement and a positive culture in the NHS Model Hospital statistics.

With Ann’s HR team, the Board and the wider Trust management team, she developed and implemented a HR strategy that moved Northumbria Healthcare to be one of the best employers in the NHS.

Ann strongly believes in Equality Diversity and Inclusion. Relationships with Trades Unions are highly constructive as a result of working in Partnership over many years.

She has strong HR skills, particularly in employee relations and organisational culture, and as a consequence of a practical application, staff rate the Trust highly for fairness and equality in making employment decisions and as a great place to work.

Ann’s earlier career was spent initially in food retailing and then food manufacturing in broad based HR and training roles that provided an excellent grounding in all areas.

Her time as the HRD for Findus Ltd (owned by the Swedish equity firm EQT) provided experience of setting up and modernising remuneration and benefits systems and packages that many HR Directors would not have experienced in a large public or private sector employer.

Ann’s career has spanned both Private and Public sector employers demonstrating her ability to work effectively in both settings. She has been able to learn and demonstrate best practice from both cultures. Her Board contribution reflects a broad business understanding outside of her areas of specialism.
