About Sheila Ryan

Sheila Ryan is a seasoned Senior Consultant with extensive expertise in employee relations, workplace mediation, and organisational change. She has worked to foster positive workplace environments and implement effective strategies, with an approach characterised by a deep commitment to conflict resolution and a passion for driving cultural transformation.

She has spent 29 years with the London Ambulance Service (LAS), with 18 years frontline, responding to 999 medical emergencies, and 9 years as a Community Resuscitation Training Officer. Her tremendous work has helped to actively increase survival rates from out of hospital cardiac arrests across London by encouraging the installation of public access defibrillators, training and welfare checks at large corporate sites and hard to reach, deprived communities. Not to mention she has worked on developing and supporting a network of emergency responder volunteers. She has also helped to encourage NHS staff to resolve complex issues and conflict through courageous conversations and was a Business Support Manager for two years through COVID, managing control centres, business continuity and dynamic internal reviews.

Another string to Sheila’s bow is that she is an avid writer, publishing books such as ‘Lovers, Lunatics and Poets’ and ‘Untold Stories: Beachy Head’, as well as short stories as creative works and academic publications on ‘Suicide by jumping’, as part of a National Suicide Prevention Strategy.

An equity, diversity and inclusion advocate, Sheila supports diverse networks across LAS and serves as a committee member for a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff network, Irish in London, and Enabled, which helps staff with hidden disabilities.

Sheila combines her in-depth knowledge and empathetic nature with practical experience to support organisations in achieving their objectives for people and culture. Whether it’s mediating disputes, advising on best practices, or leading cultural change initiatives, Sheila is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in every project she undertakes.
