aka The TCM Advantage
TCM empowers people and organisations to adopt purpose-led, person-centred and values-based approaches to culture change, conflict and complaints resolution, human resources, people management and leadership.
We are passionate about protecting relationships whilst securing lasting and sustainable outcomes at times of conflict, change, crisis, controversy and challenge. We work in partnership with our customers to develop the overarching strategies, core values, systems, process, mindsets and behaviours which engender a fair, just, inclusive, sustainable and high-performing culture – a transformational culture.
What we do
Our customers benefit from our insightful teaching and consultancy methods which are accessible to all. We are inspired by approaches such as behavioural science, positive psychology, appreciative inquiry, restorative justice, principled negotiation, nonviolent communication and emotional intelligence.
We believe in the ability of people to resolve often intractable problems with compassion and collaboration – when the correct conditions are in place. We also believe that an engaging, empowering and proactive resolution of business challenges is more effective than the confrontational, adversarial and often punitive approaches which are currently in use in a great many organisations.
“Imagine working in an organisation with a clearly defined purpose and a set of core values which connect us with our organisation, with one another, and with our customers. Where our leaders are committed to unlocking our inner brilliance and engaging with each of us as human beings – during the good times and the bad. Where each voice is heard, each contribution is valued, and our differences are a source of celebration.”
Transforming cultures since 2001
David’s second book, Transformational Culture, reflected the business’ continual metamorphosis and reaction to business needs. Driven by global health, economic and environmental emergencies and rising social justice and employee activism, TCM understood that organisations are urgently seeking a new cultural model which will enable them to thrive. The book and successive brand provide and implement a bespoke blueprint for developing fair, just, inclusive, sustainable and high-performing organisations. Since publication in 2021, Transformational Culture has been shortlisted for the Business Book Awards 2022 with David being named one of HR’s Most Influential Thinkers. TCM continues to build from strength to strength, with sights now firmly set on expansion across the USA. Let’s hope the world is ready.
The culture flow system
The Culture Flow System™ expresses the relationship between corporate culture and local climates and subculture. The term flow is taken from the theory of positive psychology and is all about creating the necessary conditions for a just, fair, inclusive, sustainable and high-performance organisation.
Here at TCM, we use the model to help organisations to map the current culture and climate of their organisation, before deploying a range of transformational initiatives.
The Transformational Culture Model
The Transformational Culture Model™ offers a blueprint for a progressive, values-based and people-centred organisation. It is a blend of interconnected elements which span an organisation’s entire ecosystem. It draws upon a range of theories including systems thinking, nudge theory, positive psychology, restorative justice and emotional intelligence.
Here at TCM, we apply the model to all the work that we do, to help support the process of designing, deploying and sustaining the necessary changes which will deliver a fair, just, inclusive, sustainable and high-performance organisational culture. The model can be deployed in support of enhanced people processes, management systems, and leadership strategies/behaviours.
We have worked with thousands of organisations, from major blue-chip companies including Aviva, Royal Mail, HSBC, BT, EDF Energy, Deutsche Bank, Ford Retail, Shell, American Airlines and BA, to large and complex government departments including the Cabinet Office, Home Office, Department for Work and Pensions, Ministry of Defence and Department for Culture Media and Sport.
We have developed mediation schemes, leadership development and culture change programmes for a wide array of public sector organisations, including NHS Trusts, Universities, Councils and Police Forces. We were recently awarded the ‘HR Consultancy of the Year’ and ‘Change Management Award’ in consecutive years at the Personnel Today Awards.
