"The training gave me a clearer understanding of mediation and how I can apply it in my role. The role-playing exercises were incredibly valuable for putting theory into practice."

Rotary International Taps into the Power of Mediation Skills Training

Rotary International is one of the largest service organisations in the world, comprised of over 1.2 million members dedicated to making a global impact. For over a century, Rotary has bridged cultures and connected continents, driven by its mission to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through [the] fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders”.

Effective collaboration and conflict resolution are essential for maintaining strong relationships among Rotary members and stakeholders, ensuring continued progress toward their shared goals. To support this, Rotary partnered with The TCM Group to deliver a Practical Mediation Skills training programme, designed to equip participants with essential mediation techniques.

Training Overview

The two-day training, led by TCM Accredited Mediator and Trainer, Thoralf Kretzschmar, focused on building participants’ confidence in mediation, enhancing their understanding of conflict dynamics, and equipping them with practical tools to manage disputes impartially. Delegates engaged in interactive exercises, case studies, and role-playing activities to deepen their learning experience.

Key Outcomes & Feedback

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with delegates highlighting the engaging facilitation, real-life case studies, and structured learning approach. Some of the key benefits reported included:

✔ Stronger understanding of the mediation process and its structured approach.

✔ Improved confidence in handling conflicts with neutrality and sensitivity.

✔ Practical application of mediation techniques through role-playing exercises.

✔ Increased awareness of emotional intelligence in conflict resolution.

To reinforce learning, Rotary International will participate in a Project Impact Meeting (PIM) to review the impact of the training and explore further support. Additionally, delegates will have access to a free online refresher workshop to consolidate their learning and enhance long-term application.
