The oil-rich desertscapes of Libya have been in a state of political instability since Colonel Gaddafi’s four-decade reign was toppled by armed rebellion and Western military intervention. Since 2011, the UK has been working closely with the Libyan government to restore democracy and rebuild fraught domestic and international relations. One key peacemaker, Nick-Prentice Jenkins, also a Resolution Consultant for The TCM Group, has collaborated directly with the Minister of Interior to aid in reconstructing the Libyan police force. Nick is a former UK Police officer with 21 years of experience in operational, training, investigative and intelligence led policing. His career as a police officer concluded in June 2020 as the Deputy Head of Intelligence for the Wales Extremism & Counter Terrorism Unit (WECTU). He was responsible for the management of Counter Terrorism intelligence, the CT Open-Source Intelligence Unit, CT Financial Investigations, FUSION, CT Forensic Management Team & the CT & Organised Crime Prison Unit. During this time, he was involved in the Policing of the Westminster Bridge, Parsons Green, Borough Market and Finsbury Park attacks. Nick managed the Counter Terrorism Investigations Unit and the South Wales Special Branch where he was a covert investigations manager, he also has extensive experience as a police investigator working as an operational detective for over 15 years on divisional CID and force Major Crime Teams.
Since leaving UK Policing, Nick has worked in Libya undertaking a Police Reform Project on behalf of the Libyan Government. He established and led the Project Management Office and the Project Director role. He contributed to the completion of national strategies in Counter Terrorism, Counter Illegal Migration and Serious Organised Crime, working at a strategic level to support their implementation and the design and delivery of training and mentoring. Nick has managed key stakeholder engagement with Government Ministers, Senior Police Commanders and international partners, where he coordinated delivery to ensure operational excellence.
