Susan is from Leeds in West Yorkshire and is a qualified Workplace Mediator having trained in 2007, she has over 25 years experience in the public sectors gaining experience in different HR management roles. Susan qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 1994 whilst working in Human Resources in the Railways, moving from there to the Local Authority.
During her career in HR, Susan has been involved in many complex investigations, hearings, grievances and Employment Tribunals. Managing the Mediation Service, she has also carried out many workplace and community mediations. Susan has a passion for mediation and the ability for it to be an effective tool for resolution of complex disputes. On a number of mediations, Susan has seen how a well conducted mediation can result in surprising and positive outcomes. She believes mediation should be consistently encouraged in an effort to drive down the costs to businesses in absence and /or poor performance, as well as the effect of the stress and mental health issues that often arise in workplace disputes.
While working in the public sector Susan worked together with the trade unions to improve Policy as well as Health and Wellbeing for all.
Susan’s passion is travelling, especially if a cruise is involved!
